A 0-100 fear/greed score built from NIFTY 50 breadth, India VIX, and NIFTY momentum — plus separate mood reads for US markets, crypto, and forex/gold below. Updated every weekday morning before the market opens. Share the card below on your story.
How this is scored: three sub-scores (0-100 each), averaged. Breadth is the % of NIFTY 50 stocks that advanced last session. Momentum maps NIFTY 50's last-session % change onto a 0-100 scale. Volatility compares India VIX's latest close to its own past 20 sessions, inverted (calmer than usual = higher score). 0-20 Extreme Fear · 20-40 Fear · 40-60 Neutral · 60-80 Greed · 80-100 Extreme Greed.

Fear & Greed Index FAQs
India VIX, market sentiment, and how this score is built.
What does India VIX mean, and is today's reading good or bad?
India VIX is the NSE's volatility index — it prices how much traders expect NIFTY 50 to swing over the next month. There's no universally "good" level: a rising VIX usually goes with fear (pulling the Volatility sub-score above down), a falling VIX with greed.
Is Market Mood the same as a NIFTY fear and greed index?
Yes — Market Mood is Market Dekho's own market sentiment index for India, scored the way a NIFTY fear and greed index would be, from NSE breadth, India VIX and NIFTY momentum, rather than the US-market inputs CNN's Fear & Greed Index uses.
How often does the Market Mood score update?
Daily, on weekday mornings, based on the previous session's breadth and volatility data.
