Pivot Point Calculator
Calculate classic pivot points and the support and resistance levels around them from a previous period's high, low and close. Pivot levels are plain arithmetic on past prices, drawn on charts as reference lines.

How the pivot point calculator works
Classic pivot points are computed from the previous period's high (H), low (L) and close (C):
- P = (H + L + C) ÷ 3
- R1 = 2P − L S1 = 2P − H
- R2 = P + (H − L) S2 = P − (H − L)
- R3 = H + 2(P − L) S3 = L − 2(H − P)
The levels are reference prices that many chart users mark. They are arithmetic on past prices; they do not say where price will go, and price can move through any of them.
Worked example
A previous session with a high of ₹2540, a low of ₹2480 and a close of ₹2520 gives a pivot point of (2540 + 2480 + 2520) ÷ 3 = ₹2,513.33. R1 is ₹2,546.67, R2 ₹2,573.33 and R3 ₹2,606.67; S1 is ₹2,486.67, S2 ₹2,453.33 and S3 ₹2,426.67.
Frequently asked questions
What are pivot points?
Reference price levels calculated from the previous period's high, low and close, often drawn on intraday charts.
Which period should I use for high, low and close?
Chart users commonly use the previous day for intraday work and the previous week or month for longer charts. The formula is the same.
Do pivot points predict price?
No. They are calculated from past prices and say nothing certain about future moves.
Are there other kinds of pivot points?
Yes, such as Fibonacci and Camarilla variants. This calculator uses the classic formulas.
