How the brokerage calculator works

Every trade carries several charges on top of the price. The calculator adds them for a purchase followed by a sale of the same quantity:

GST applies to brokerage, exchange transaction charges and SEBI fees, not to STT or stamp duty. Exchange charges and brokerage plans differ by exchange and broker; use your own broker's charge sheet for exact figures. Derivatives charges are not covered here.

Worked example

100 shares bought at ₹500 and sold at ₹510 as an intraday trade with ₹20 flat brokerage per order gives a turnover of ₹1,01,000. Total charges come to ₹65.11, of which brokerage is ₹40.00, STT ₹12.75 and GST ₹7.76. The gross gain of ₹1,000.00 becomes a net gain of ₹934.89, and the price has to move about ₹0.65 per share just to cover the charges.

Rates used and last verified

STT 0.1% delivery / 0.025% intraday (on sale value); stamp 0.015% / 0.003%; NSE 0.00297%; SEBI ₹10/crore; GST 18%.
