FD Calculator
Estimate the maturity amount of a fixed deposit from the amount, interest rate, tenure and how often interest is compounded, along with the interest earned and the effective yearly yield. Interest compounds at the frequency you pick, so you can see how quarterly and monthly compounding differ.

How the fd calculator works
Maturity = P × (1 + r ÷ n)n × t, where P is the deposit, r the yearly rate, n the number of compounding periods a year and t the tenure in years. The effective yield is (1 + r ÷ n)n − 1, the yearly rate after compounding.
Banks differ in how they compound and in how they treat part years. Tax deducted at source and tax on the interest are not included.
Worked example
₹1,00,000 deposited at 7% a year for 5 years with quarterly compounding grows to ₹1,41,478, so the interest earned is ₹41,478. The effective yearly yield is 7.19%, a little above the stated 7% because interest is added every quarter.
Frequently asked questions
How is FD maturity calculated?
With the compound interest formula P × (1 + r/n)^(n×t). Most banks compound quarterly, but check your deposit terms.
Why is the effective yield higher than the stated rate?
Because interest earns interest. The more often it is added, the higher the effective yield.
Is the interest on an FD taxable?
Yes, as income. The calculator does not deduct tax; check current rules for TDS and your slab.
Does this include premature withdrawal penalties?
No. It assumes you keep the deposit to maturity.
