Digital gold: meaning, example and why it matters
Gold bought in small amounts through an online platform that says it holds physical gold on your behalf. It is not the same as an exchange-traded product; check who regulates it, who holds the gold and the platform's spread.
Worked example
₹1,000 of digital gold at ₹7,000 a gram buys 1,000 ÷ 7,000 = 0.1429 gram, before any charges. The price is illustrative.

Why it matters
It lets you buy gold in small amounts, but it is a product of the platform, with its own rules and risks.
